MoneyStory: This 27 year old stripper makes 2M a week stripping in Lagos clubs

Age: 27, Female

Occupation: Stripper

Resides in: Ikeja, Lagos

Monthly Salary: ₦350,000

Rent: ₦2.5million

How did you earn your first income?

I was in my final year of university and I needed money to cover my final-year bills. I started by selling bags that I pre-ordered online to students in my hostel. It was a good way to raise money to get through school, and that was like my first real income.

How did you get into stripping?

I was still in my final year when a friend took me to a strip club for the first time. The things my eyes saw, the money the girls were making just dancing, I couldn’t speak for a while. I was running around looking for money for my school bills, and I just thought, “I have a good body, why am I wasting this asset?” One thing led to another. My friend introduced me to one of the managers, and in 6 weeks, I became a professional stripper. The rest is history.

How long have you been a professional stripper?

3 years and counting.

“And counting”, does that mean you don’t plan on quitting anytime soon?

Quit where? On a bad week, I earn about ₦2 million, on good days like festive periods, it can be much more. So where am I going? I will die here o! lol

How are you able to earn this much when your salary is just 350k?.

When I am dancing on the pole, men hover around me and spray money: even hard currencies. Sometimes I get called for VIP sessions. Those days make me happiest because my income doubles or even more. I have what men with "bastard money" want. They spend it on me, and I shake my backside for them. It sounds simple, but it is not easy to dance on the pole. My ₦350k salary is just a formality. Although management splits my earnings from spraying, I don’t go home with everything except what is sent directly to my account.

How do you spend all this money? It seems like a lot to make in one night.

It looks like a lot, but it’s really not. I have dreams and financial goals, and I’m nowhere near achieving them yet. Every month when my ₦350k salary enters, I don’t even feel it. It mostly goes to subscriptions: Spotify, Netflix, YouTube, fixing my nails and lashes, and other utility bills. I also send money to my brother in school.

What about your daily earnings? How do you spend those?

Aside from my ₦350k salary, I earn an average of ₦7-10 million monthly. The first thing I budget for is food, because "feed the body that works the money." I love cooking, so I spend about ₦300k monthly on groceries and stocking up my fridge and also ordering food when I want to eat something different. I always have people around me, so if you visit, you’ll either leave with a full stomach, a full bag, or both. I set aside ₦500k monthly, savings towards rent. Another ₦500k goes to my parents every month. Then I pay my cook and cleaner ₦150k. I budget ₦2.5 million for grooming and body maintenance because my body is my most valuable asset, this includes spa sessions, new hair, lingerie, shows and bags, etc. I set aside ₦500k for bills and borrowers, then I save and invest the rest in case of emergency or unexpected expenses.

What does financial stability mean to you?

When I can sit in my mansion and still earn this amount, or more, then I’ll consider myself financially stable. Right now, I’m still shaking my backside left, right, and center. I know I can’t do this forever. I think about it everyday but I’m currently just living in the moment.

If you were given ₦10million today, what would you do with it?

I’ve been saving up for a car, I can already buy one with my savings but the kind of car I want will make me go broke. I’ll probably add 5million from my savings and use the money to get a car. I also plan on opening my own hair brand in a few years, so I can retire from stripping. When I make more money, I intend to set up something.

On a scale of 1–10, how would you rate your financial happiness?

A solid 6. It’ll be 8 when I can buy the kind of car I want without budgeting or saving towards it.
